24 Days

Hello World!

My name is Meggie and I'm the fashion blogger behind Meggie July. In just over three weeks, I will be embarking on a pretty big adventure: A two month lifestyle journalism internship in New York City. You know how when you return from a trip and someone asks, "How was it?" and you usually reply with "Good, thanks." Well, I don't want to summarize two months of my life into two words. An adventure of a lifetime deserves a little more than that, don't you think?

That's where this blog comes into play. I will be chronicling my adventures and experiences for all to read about: Friends, family, blog readers and anyone who happens to stumble across this blog. :)

I leave in exactly 24 days from today. I won't lie, I'm excited but also a little nervous. I've never interned before, much less in a foreign city and country (I'm from Toronto, Canada.) But when life presents you with a dream opportunity like this, I've learned you grab the bull by the horns, even if it means stepping miles outside of your comfort zone.

Meet my bucket list

I'm a big fan of making lists. Which is why I've been working on a New York bucket list since February. Throughout the summer, I'll be documenting the different bucket list items I've checked off. There are some pretty standard ones on here such as the various Broadway plays I want to see and "Visit Statue of Liberty" (I've been to New York seven times before and STILL have not seen it's most famous monument!!!) But here are some of the less conventional bucket list items:

Eat froyo on the Met steps a la Blair Waldorf
(only Gossip Girl fans will understand this)

Visit the Frick Collection
(a gallery that is home to some of my favorite artists' works such as Rembrandt, Vermeer and Gainsborough)

Watch someone eat the famous $1000 Sundae at Serendipity
As much as I love ice cream, I'm not willing to fork over a grand for it. So I'm hoping to at some point, witness someone eating this decadent dessert (and maybe they'll let me touch the golden spoon...)

Go on a date in NYC
Maybe it's the romantic in me coming out, but what girl wouldn't want to go on a date in the Big Apple? (And pretend she's Carrie Bradshaw for an evening?)

Stay tuned for more NYC updates!

Love, Meggie
